Today was one of those days where you really just need a hug.

I've decided that driving makes me feel sick. I always get so stressed out about little unimportant things. So I will only be driving when the streets are completely dead. Like... right now at 1:22 am. That's when I really don't mind driving around.

So, I've been fighting against the sick-to-your stomach feeling since 4:55 this morning.

Church helped. And a double dose was just what the doctor ordered.

Then Tayler and I went on our weekly Sunday chocolate trip, and planned an after-work adventure.

I went home, changed, and then went to work.

Some man brightened my day by telling me how amazing I was. He was a complete stranger. It was grand!

I learned that my favorite hobo's name is Thor, and my favorite drive thru customer's name is Laura.

After work, I went to the movie theater with Tayler. I had to pee, so I literally RAN to the bathroom, and it's a good thing... Cause I was laughing pretty hard during the entire movie.

As I drove home, my fear melted away. The roads were empty. Thank Goodness.

Now I'm going to snuggle up in my bed and go to sleep! Goodnight!

I Would Suggest Driving on the Left Side of the Road

I am 18 years old.

Two years ago, on January 27th 2009, I went into the DMV and got my permit. I didn't use it, and it expired.

Fast forward.

I pulled into the DMV parking lot and nervously locked the doors. What if I didn't pass? I'd have to deal with the shame of failing a test that everyone claimed was "So Easy". Or worse, what if I DID pass? Then I'd be on the roads with everyone else, risking my life to get from point A to point B in a heavy and dangerous piece of mechanical equipment.

I was terrified.

I played with the keys while I waited, my palms getting sweaty. I breathed slow, deep breaths. "It's gonna be okay!" I told myself. I glanced up at my mom. "I need my phone to not be dead!" I told her, "I'm in need of a Shayla pep talk... right now!" She laughed. I gasped, "Crap. How do you parallel park again?"

My name was called, and my heart rate accelerated. I wasn't ready for this. I walked up to the lady and smiled. "Hi!" I said, "I'm Toni!"

We walked out to my car, and I put on my seat belt while she checked to make sure the lights and signals were functioning properly. She climbed in, and I handed her the insurance and registration papers. "Did you need these?"

"Nope!" She replied, "But I can put them in the glove box for you!"
"Thanks!" I said, "That would be great!"

As she put my papers in the glove box, I carefully placed my phone in the middle armrest, where it wouldn't be a distraction. She noticed.

"When you're ready, go ahead and back out."

And we were off.

...

I had to resist the urge to hug her as we walked back in the building.  I passed!

How do you catch an elephant?

You dig a big hole and fill it with ashes, and then you carefully line it with peas. When the elephant comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ash-hole.

Bad Days and Smiles.

Today has just been one of those days. You know the days where everyone decides to ditch school on the exact same day and leave you to eat lunch alone? The one where you text your best friend to hang out and he can't because he's busy eating pizza and tweeting about how hot Alice from Alice in wonderland is. The one where you get home early with full plans of doing something productive and then you "aren't allowed to".

It's rather selfish and nearsighted of me to think of it this way, but life always seems to throw doldrums into the equation right after a really good weekend. Have you noticed that?

Well, since I'm a slacker and haven't gotten my license yet, I decided to crank some tunes and drive around my neighborhood for some good driving practice. My mood was soaring until I pulled back into my driveway to see if my mom would join me.
Of course, she refused and yelled at me for being a slacker. So instead I just locked the doors, cranked the bass, and cried in my driveway.

Then a friend told me to check out her blog. My sweet, sweet friend has made my day so much better. here is the post that made me smile.
