blog babies and marriage proposals

It seems as if I've convinced the best friend to join the blogging world.

Shayla is currently waiting for her missionary to return home to her, and I suggested that she blog about the experience. So you know what she did? She created a blog. This means I have two blogs named after me.

toni made me
and
toni with glitter

I have to admit, this makes me feel rather special. I'm not sure how these girls feel about their blogs, but I know that the more time I put into mine, the more I love it.
It's my own creation.
I made it, therefore, I love it in an almost motherly way.
It's like my blog baby,
and my best friends named their blog babies after me!

Anyways,
as I was getting ready for work today, I decided to call Shayla. We made wedding plans since people seem to be assuming that she's secretly engaged. Some rather exciting ideas that are in the works for this imaginary wedding are

.the eiffel tower
.a giant jumphouse
.quality cuisine catered from del taco
.dancing down the aisle
.a bleached peacock feather dress
.50 tiered cake
.skydiving
.jetpacks
.pin the tail on the donkey
and
.interpretive dancing

Obviously I'm a little excited for this imaginary wedding to be taking place. I believe she said the colors were lime green and burnt orange. Plan your life accordingly.

p.s. She said that even though I'm the maid of honor, (meaning my dress should probably match the wedding colors) she's letting me wear a bring purple dress just to spice things up. I need to go imaginary purple dress shopping. Anyone in?

My first kiss went a little like this...

Were you expecting a story about my first kiss? That, my friends, is classified information. Heck, how do you even know that I've even had my first kiss?

I suppose that it's possible that I could tell you the story of my first kiss another day, but today is not that day.
So, with that said, enjoy this lovely little video clip.
It's quite adorable.

Senior Pictures. Part One.

What do you think?

Be Kind

I was talking to Losa today, and she mentioned that she hadn't seen this video before. I thought I'd put it up here for you guys to see. :)

Senioritis

I've been trying to get my senior pictures taken for quite a while now, but it just hasn't happened yet. I love facebook stalking my fellow seniors and looking at their wonderful pictures. I believe I've convinced four different people to take my pictures... and I'm rather excited. Dressing up, looking cute.. It doesn't happen very often, but I love it.

Then I realized that I didn't have any clothes that I wanted to wear for my senior pictures. I decided that something needed to be done. After finding THIS blog, I was feeling rather inspired. I contacted my best friend Cydney, who happens to be my thrifting buddy. Just a few short hours later, we were off to go thrifting.

Of course, I found some pretty awesome finds and couldn't wait to get home, wash them, dry them, and wear them. I got them all washed and hung up to dry. (I don't believe in dryers. They seem to eat my clothes.) and went to bed.

Due to some unforeseen family issues, my mother asked me to skip my first class and take my brother to school so that my father could attend a doctor's appointment. I complained about missing my first class, and she found another way for him to get there.

This morning, I woke up earlier than usual so that I could get ready for school, and be ready to take pictures afterwards. Unfortunately, my brother didn't get the memo that I would be taking more time than usual to get ready this morning. He exited the bathroom at approximately 6:02 a.m. This is two minutes later than he's usually in there. Usually I can make this work. I don't usually spend too much time in the morning getting ready since (according to Spencer) I look fine just how I am. On average, I spend a max of 30 minutes getting ready. Hair, clothes, teeth, shoes. If you aren't familiar with most high school girls' routines, then you won't know how impressive this is. I usually touch my up makeup in my first class or at the stoplights on the way to school.

This morning, my hair decided to go crazy at around the same time that I realized "Oh yeah.. I only like taking pictures in theory!" It always slips my mind that I have some crazy irrational fear of being on the photographed side of the lens.

So... I packed my suitcase and got ready to take my brother to school since I was obviously going to be late anyways. As I headed down the stairs, I realized that my brother was missing. I called my mom. She informed me that she'd already left to take him to school. Saa-weeet.

Then I realized that today is mentorship. Since I've only been going to high school for four years, you can't expect me to have the bell schedule memorized. Even though I could PROBABLY sneak into my first period class by telling the teacher the truth about my agenda, (Something pertaining to an intergalactic battle with the death star) there's no way that would fly with my other teachers.

So.. I'm waiting til lunch.

No big. I needed more time to figure out what I was wearing in the pictures anyway.

Also, I've realized that a lot of people have props in their senior pictures. Like..  A guitar or a football.
I can't really think of anything "Toni" or "Senior Year" related that wouldn't be tacky looking.
Flamingos? Tacky.
Mismatched socks? Tacky.
Skis? They would TOTALLY look awesome in the mojave desert.
A Piano? Ohhh yeah. Too bad I don't have a moving truck and a spare piano.

Well... I'm off! Wish me luck!

Okay, I'll admit it. I DO want to go.

Dear Disney,

Please stop mocking me with your cheesy, overly advertised cinematic creation based on a four letter word representing an overrated high school celebration.

Yours truly,

A bitter, lonely, former fan.

When a Country comes together..

Almost 10 years ago, two days after my birthday, I sat in my third grade class and listened as the teacher told us about the tragedy of 9-11. I rode my bike home, hugged my mom, and spent the night watching the story unfold on the television screen. This horrible devastation pulled our country together in a way that my little third grade mind couldn't even begin to comprehend.

Last night, President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. His speech was intricately worded and extremely powerful. Social Networks exploded. Phones buzzed, "Are you watching the news?" The country tuned in to hear our president speak.

However, it wasn't the president's speech that had the greatest impact on me. It was this video.
People started gathering in front of the White House in celebration of the Death of Osama Bin Laden. They were chanting "USA! USA!" and broke into song, singing the Star Spangled banner.

It was beautiful.

I'm VERY proud to be an American.
