Today, I had one of those lovely Saturdays that should go down in the book as just being.. the way EVERY Saturday should be.
After going to sleep around two thirty, my alarm woke me up at six. I turned it off and snuggled back into my pile of blankets to go back to sleep. Around 6:40, my mom poked her head into my room and asked if I was joining her. I popped out of bed like a piece of toast and brushed my teeth. I grabbed my running shoes and headed out the door.
The air was cool, brisk, and refreshing. The sun was up, but still low enough in the eastern sky that it was casting bright morning shadows across the ground. The leaves were dancing in the wind, and the birds were chirping cheerfully as they flew through the air.
Chatting with my friend's mom, I walked a couple miles with the ladies in the ward. It was pretty slow paced, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.
Afterwards, I headed home and took a shower. Just as I was about to climb in bed for a nap, I got a text. Yes, I replied. Yes I DID want to go on an adventure. I began to get ready when I was informed that we wouldn't be leaving til four. "perfect" I thought to myself. Time for a nap!
I climbed in bed and had a texting conversation that just made me giggle. I was still smiling as I drifted off to sleep.
My phone went off and woke me up from the most refreshing nap ever. My parents were having an important discussion, so I headed off on a bike ride with my little brother. I'm glad we both decided that we needed to get out of the house, cause that bike ride was just what I needed.
There's something about flying down the bike trail on a sunny afternoon that's just beautiful. Mix that with a nice Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz playlist and you're set for an afternoon of bliss. It made me feel all warm and bubbly inside.
Afterwards, I headed home to get picked up for a really fun date.
I finished the night watching a bunch of kids that I adore. We made dinner, stuck our feet in the hot tub, and quoted despicable me. After some giggles and laughs, the kids changed into their pajamas and we all climbed on the couch to curl up and watch a movie. One by one, they drifted off to sleep.
Today was lovely.
